ARTIST CHANGE: This Friday, The Half Note welcomes the Brandi Disterheft Duo.
JUNO Award–winning bassist, vocalist, and composer Brandi Disterheft brings her expressive sound to an intimate duo performance. Her music blends swinging jazz, Bossa Nova, Brazilian rhythms, and selections from the Great American Songbook, led by her fiery bass playing and warm, ambient voice.
After relocating to New York City, Disterheft apprenticed with legendary bassist Ron Carter. She has performed internationally and at celebrated venues including Carnegie Hall and the Vienna Opera House, and has worked with artists including Hank Jones, George Coleman, Benny Green, Cyrus Chestnut, Vincent Herring, and Renee Rosnes.
Her acclaimed album Surfboard showcases the rhythmic imagination, lyricism, and emotional depth that define her music. Friday’s duo setting brings that artistry into especially close focus.
