Canadian Grammy (JUNO)–winning bassist, singer, and composer Brandi Disterheft returns to the stage with her intoxicating Bossa Nova Jazz project—an innovative live show that showcases her rare dual mastery as both a virtuoso bassist and a compelling vocalist.
Her critically acclaimed album Surfboard, which charted in the Top 10 Jazz Charts, features jazz master George Coleman (known for his work with Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock). The project highlights Brandi’s prodigious rhythmic dexterity on the bass fiddle, further elevated by her ambient, sultry voice.
Drawing from the golden era of 1960s Brazilian jazz, Brandi performs classics by Carlos Jobim and Astrud Gilberto, alongside selections from the American Songbook—reimagined through her trio’s signature samba-infused arrangements. JazzTimes describes her music as:
